Enner Valencia and our squad
|
I can't help but think that Valencia is going to be a huge asset to us this season with the way bilic has the team set up and the way we're playing. I never really thought we played to his strengths under BFS.
Can't help thinking that balancing the books and selling him once he returns to fitness could be on gold and Sullivan's mind after this summers outlay. Is that likely or do you think we'll keep him?

If you are talking about in the Jan window then there is no chance they would get back what they paid and so no, i do not think they would consider it.

Stand up. Walk to a mirror. Ask that question again..
Your answer is irrelevant to all but you.

I'd rather Moses Lanzini and Payet ahead of Valencia. Probably even Zarate. Haven't seen enough of Antonio yet. He's certainly got his work cut out to get in this side.

I think the team is much more set up to exploit his pace now, I totally agree. He can play a similar role to Moses.

Really thought it would be a big season for Valencia and gut said he'd end up being our top scorer. Hated what Previous manager did to him.
Hopefully he'll be back soon to give Slav a selection nightmare

He'll only strengthen us more.
We'll have injuries to other players and have to rotate the squad in December/January so he'll get plenty of opportunities.
I reckon we're well set up for a good tilt at a cup this season, with the squad we have at the moment. Really hope Bilic recognises that, starting tomorrow night!

If anything, I think the strategy will be to keep Andy Carroll fit and play him as an impact sub. and then sell him in January to a club struggling for goals.
I can't help thinking that his transfer fee plus his wages annoy G&S the second they wake up every morning. One of the reasons BFS wasn't retained. His purchase of Jarvis to run up the wing, "Big Andy knocks them down and Nolan scores." That was the plan....... and there was no back up plan.

We will get injuries, suspensions and players will lose form. Of course we need him.

I like valencia. And I'm looking forward to seeing him and sakho together being fed by our new playmakers

Jesus fucking Christ, what is fucking wrong with you, croe? If you don't want to discuss West Ham but just want to constantly take a pop at people, why don't you do us all a favour and fuck off somewhere else?
I agree with those that have pointed out that he will have his work cut out to get into this side, barring injuries. He has done nothing to enhance his transfer value since arriving, so won't be sold. I hope he gets the chance to prove his worth, but I'm not very optimistic about his chances, mainly because I believe the team is going to continue to do very well without him.

Agreed, Exile, the OP isn't even that bad compared to some of the shit that is posted here. I think Valencia struggles to get into the team based on current form but he is an excellent prospect and it's nice to have the choice after years of dross on the bench.
I don't think we have a particular area of weakness in the squad so unless we are blighted by injury then there's no requirement to have a big spend in January. I'd only sell him if we get a ridiculous offer which is way above market value.

Good option off the bench but I don't really think he figures in our plans unless injuries hit. One injury to Sakho however and we will want him back.
How Carroll looks in our set up will also determine if there is a role for Enner. As does how Jelavic and Lanzini perform.
(Despite the injury someone would still pay a decent amount for him hes young enough of all our players who we could sell in January to balance the budget or be able to afford a new player I'd say hes the best bet.)

It's all about squads these days!
There'll be plenty of game time for everyone. If anyone misses out it'll be Carroll too slow and defo plan B now, just like at international level!

don't think he's ever really beeb good enough. that said, deserves a chance under Billic's way of playing on the counter.

Simply a bit bored of people starting threads about selling fucking players.
IF that's what you want to discuss sitting 3rd in the fucking league then so be it.
Personally I look forward to carrying on our good form and having Valencia strengthen options in a couple of months and to not selling our best players thanks.

Can't help thinking Carroll will be tempted by a move to Newcastle in Jan if we and they carry on in the same vein...
This leaves more space for Valencia to figure; a player that has always relied upon speed, which our new way of playing suits.
